Meet Captain Hans
Hi, I’m Captain Hans—pronounced like “hands” without the “d.” It’s a unique name with a family tradition behind it—I’m the fourth generation to carry it, and the distinct pronunciation has always been part of the story.

My passion for fishing began in my preteen years on the Gulf Coast, where I cut my teeth targeting trout, redfish, and flounder. By my teens and 20s, I was diving headfirst into the competitive fishing world, participating in cobia and blue marlin tournaments along the Gulf Coast and sailfish tournaments right here in Key West. My love for sailfishing, which started back in the late ’90s, is what eventually brought me to these incredible waters.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to cast my lines in some of the world’s most remarkable fishing destinations—Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Mexico, The Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, and Belize. Each place was unforgettable, but nothing compares to the excitement of helping clients make memories in Key West.

Born and raised in Key West with fishing in his blood, Chris grew up learning the ropes from one of the best—his father,Mark “Sharky” Baumgarten. Blending generations of family knowledge with his own modern style and energy, Chris brings a new and fresh perspective to deep sea fishing, shark adventures,live baiting and wreck fishing in Key West.
