COWBOY COWGIRL CHARTERS KEY WEST FISHING REPORT: JAN HIGHLIGHTS

Welcome to our latest fishing report from Cowboy Cowgirl Charters in Key West, Florida! We’re excited to share our recent catches and experiences on the water as we wrap up January.
This month, our charters have been thriving with action-packed trolling adventures. Using high-quality fishing gear and shiny spoons, our anglers have been catching many impressive fish. The King Mackerel have been biting enthusiastically, offering both challenge and reward to our guests. We have also caught lively Mutton Snappers, active Bonitas, and fast Spanish and Cero Mackerels. Each trip offers a varied fishing experience.
Our deep-trolling efforts have been just as fruitful, with ballyhoo baits attracting some of the ocean’s most sought-after species. We have had great success with Black Groupers and Barracudas. Each encounter is exciting and eco-friendly because we use catch-and-release practices.
A special highlight of the month was landing a magnificent 30lb Wahoo in 120 feet of water south of Key West. This exciting catch adds to the rich tapestry of our fishing tales. In the deeper waters, about 400 feet down, we found schools of Mahi and Tunas. This gives our anglers many targets to choose from.
The Sailfish population in the area has been showing up more often. This adds extra excitement to our trips. The Hammerhead Shark migration has created great chances for catch-and-release shark fishing. A large Grey Hammerhead was a recent notable catch.
If you like inshore fishing, Blacktip Shark activity is very high right now. This makes it a great option for windy days. These excursions often result in a bonus catch of Snappers while targeting sharks.
As we approach the end of January and the cold fronts pass, we expect more blue water fishing opportunities. We can’t wait to see what the coming weeks will bring.
Stay tuned for more updates and tight lines from all of us at Cowboy Charters in Key West, Florida!
